Confidence as a trainer comes from the knowledge that you are well prepared in your topic and the resources you’ll use to present your information. Confidence, is also understanding that an effective trainer is someone who presents in a professional manner, is an effective communicator and has developed an awareness of the learning needs of their learner group. In this course, we’d like to share with you our combined experience in the vocational education sector working with adult learners. Our focus will be on the more practical aspects of training and facilitation and we’d like to draw on some of the skills and knowledge we've gained through our respective training careers to offer you some practical techniques, approaches, hints and suggestions that you may be able to apply to your own training environment. Whether you’re an experienced trainer or just starting out, this course aims to develop the skills that you already have and help you become a more confident and accomplished vocational educator.

Course Instructors

Karen Turnbull

Karen has had more than 20 years in the vocational education field and has a degree in Adult & Vocational Education from the University of South Australia. She has been a trainer/facilitator in a variety of fields including fitness, business services and currently in training and education. Currently a senior lecturer with TAFE South Australia, Karen works closely with new lecturing staff helping them to develop their skills in facilitating training. She loves seeing the personal growth in her students in their knowledge, skills and self-esteem as they become confident trainers.

Peter Green

Peter has almost 20 years in the vocational education field and has a degree in Vocational Education and Training (VET) from Charles Sturt University. He has been a facilitator in a variety of training fields from sports coaching, electronics, leadership and management and currently training and education. Peter is currently a senior lecturer with TAFE South Australia where he is developing and facilitating online diploma level training and assessment courses for advanced level VET practitioners. His greatest satisfaction is being able to pass on his experience to assist others to become confident and highly effective vocational trainers.
